If you have committed an offence then all is not lost. We may identify a legal argument known as 'special reasons' relating to the reasons behind the commission of the offence which may allow you to retain your driving licence.
Any driver facing disqualification from driving faces 'hardship' but if that hardship would be 'exceptional' then the Magistrates can sometimes be persuaded to exercise a discretion to impose penalty points over and above the normal 'totting' limit of 12 - but still allow a person to retain their licence.
